5Church: Charlotte, NC

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine’s Day. ❤️ Leave a comment and let me know what you did. No matter what your plans were, I hope you loved on yourself and that you continue to do that everyday, not just on special occasions.

A part of my Valentine’s Day weekend was a Saturday brunch at 5Church Charlotte. 5Church is located in Uptown Charlotte on the corner of 5th & Church St. It is a great place to go for brunch with a date, on your own, or with a group of friends. They are open for brunch on Saturdays from 11 AM - 4 PM and Sundays from 10 AM - 4 PM.

My Order:

  • Mimosa Flight (four mimosas with different flavors that vary)

    • Flavors of the day: Pomegranate, Pineapple Coconut, Sunrise, White Grapefruit

  • Yellowfin Tuna Sushi Tots (sticky rice, nori, danknagi, sriracha aioli)

  • Crab Cakes & Poached Farm Eggs (baby spinach, English muffin, jalapeño beurre blanc, micro basil)

Review:

I loved 5Church Charlotte! It was such a great brunch experience all around and I will definitely be returning. The brunch did not disappoint.

The ambiance of 5Church is very luxe and classy. The restaurant has high ceilings, large windows throughout, and lots of greenery and flowers. Upon entry, there is a fully stocked bar to the left. The ceilings and some of the interior walls are covered in quotes and passages, making 5Church very unique. All of the dining tables are wooden and there is mostly black, tufted upholstery. They also have large mirrors and vibrant artwork on the walls.

Our waiter was nice and upbeat. He made the experience even better because he genuinely seemed like he loved his job. The first thing we ordered was the Mimosa Flight. It was a definitely a boozy brunch! The flight came with four smaller sized mimosas and the flavors of the day were pomegranate, pineapple coconut, white grapefruit, and sunrise. All of the flavors were yummy, but my favorite was the pomegranate.

We ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Sushi Tots as an appetizer and they were amazing! The sushi tots were the best part of my meal and one of the main reasons why I will be returning to 5Church. The waiter explained them as a deconstructed tuna roll with the rice being lightly fried into the shape of a tater tot. So good!

I ordered the Crab Cakes & Poached Farm Eggs as my main course. In my experience, crab cakes can be a hit or miss but these were a hit. It was an explosion of flavors between the poached egg, the crab cake, and the crispy english muffin on the bottom. I really enjoyed my meal.

I will note that the brunch menu does have limited options, but you should be able to find something on the menu that you can enjoy.

Overall, 5Church was wonderful! If you are looking for a luxury dining experience or just a good place to get dressed up and drink mimosas, definitely check out 5Church Charlotte.
