Applewood House of Pancakes: Pawleys Island, SC

Saturday Brunch at Applewood House of Pancakes

For this week’s brunch, I visited Applewood House of Pancakes in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Pawleys Island is a small, coastal town with amazing beaches and views of the Atlantic Ocean. Applewood House of Pancakes serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch items everyday from 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM.

My Order:

  • Cranberry Juice

  • Sensational Skillet (home fries, tomato, onion, turkey, cheddar cheese, over medium eggs, fruit cup)

  • Stack of Pancakes (butter, powdered sugar)

Review:

Pawleys Island is a beautiful coastal town. I was there for family vacation to celebrate my parent’s 29th wedding anniversary. My dad really wanted to try Applewood House of Pancakes and that is what we did!

Applewood HOP is located directly on Ocean Highway. It is a popular restaurant with both locals, tourists, and with politicians. When you walk in, there is an entire wall of the famous politicians that have visited. The restaurant itself is large and looks like a typical old-fashioned breakfast place. Masks were required to enter and the tables were spaced out to comply with social distancing guidelines due to Covid-19.

Both the hostess and waitress were very nice and our food came out quickly. I ordered the Sensational Skillet. It starts with a base of home fries and cheddar cheese but you have the option of adding four more toppings then your choice of egg on top. I really enjoyed it, and I appreciated that they had meat alternatives for non-red meat eaters like myself. They also had vegetarian options and almost everything on the menu could be customized.

Of course you cannot go to a pancake house without ordering pancakes, so both my mom and dad ordered a stack. Fun fact: I really do not like pancakes no matter where they are from! So according to my parents, the pancakes were great and I take their word for it. Applewood House of Pancakes did not disappoint and I would definitely recommend it!

B.I.T.S. Rating:

I would give Applewood House of Pancakes 3.5 out of 5 stars. The ambiance of the restaurant is a typical diner style, but the food taste and menu options were top quality. If you are ever visiting Pawleys Island, stop by Applewood House of Pancakes!

What I Wore:

Unfortunately, this week there is no look. I totally forgot to pack a brunch outfit for vacation. I just wore jean shorts and a tank top, nothing blog worthy. Next week there will be a new look!

Thank you for stopping by this week’s blog post! I hope you will come back for more. Always remember to be kind.
